Japanese researchers found a delayed development of proteins amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
Gifu Pharmaceutical University professor Hara Eshiaki led the research group in 13 of the British " science " magazine online report said, they found a way to delay development of proteins amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The discovery is expected to clarify the pathogenesis of the disease and the development of new therapeutic agents to contribute.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis commonly known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, the disease of patients with motor nerve disorder appears, causing muscles become weak. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients about 10% belong to the hereditary disease. Due to the unclear details of the cause, the medical community has not found a cure the disease method.
Study Group on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis experimental rats and normal rats were compared, found in the experimental mice amyotrophic lateral sclerosis " membrane glycoprotein NMB " ( GPNMB ) and the condition of development has the very big relations.
Researchers through gene manipulation, so that more than a dozen amyotrophic lateral sclerosis mice GPNMB is expressed, it was found with a control group of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis experimental rats compared to the former, delayed onset, the survival time was extended from 1 to 2 weeks, adult type conversion, equivalent to the life extension of about 10 months, thus confirming GPNMB can delay the development of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Graduate School of Nagoya University, Niigata University and other researchers have participated in the study.
